Washington, D.C. and Privateer Day

Visit to D.C. with Fred and Georgene

We went down to Washington, D.C. on Friday to meet Auntie Georgene and Uncle Fred. For the first time we took the commuter train. From our house the commuter train stop is about 1 mile. Then it takes about 50 minutes to get to DC and it drops you right in the middle of town. If we ever need to go to DC in the middle of the week we can take the train instead of driving.
It was a beautiful day to explore D.C., the weather was really nice and we got to walk poor Fred and George all over the place. They were real troopers and didn’t complain at all. For lunch we went to a Mexican restaurant. While we were waiting for our food, a tour bus cut the corner across the street too close and hit the light pole. The whole thing was dangerously swaying and the light at the top fell. Luckily no one got hurt, but the bus did not stop—it just kept driving away!

Privateer Day in Fell’s Point

Yahrrrrrr! Saturday was the 4th Annual Privateer Day in Fell’s Point. We saw pirates singing, playing music and even battling it out.
It was another gorgeous day for us. We decided to walk to Fell’s Point from our apartment and it seemed a lot longer than the 2.1 miles. I was feeling really warm and pretty tired by the time we got to the festival and we tried to go into several places to have some lunch and they all had about 1 hour waits for a table! Quite a busy festival this year. Needless to say we stopped somewhere half way back home that had tables open. By that time we were happy for a rest.
